Brogylchu Textile Recycling not only greatly benefits the environment but also provides local people, especially those on low incomes, with quality furniture and clothing.
This operation is a substantial part of the company’s portfolio and income. Furniture is donated to Seren by people that have an empathy with its aims, as well as those who just want to get rid of some items. The company collects most of this furniture from people’s houses or, in some cases, items that are donated by businesses, public or voluntary organisations from offices, shops, warehouses etc. It also sells new furniture at both centres.
Over 30 clothing and textile banks are sited throughout the south of Gwynedd, mainly on local authority amenity sites. People can donate their unwanted items at these banks, all of which are emptied at least once a week by the company’s staff. Seren also works closely with local schools in this respect.
The Furniture and Clothing Warehouses are open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm as well as Saturday mornings (in Blaenau Ffestiniog only). Both offer ideal opportunities for service users that enjoy the physical aspects of work as well as meeting people on a regular daily basis.
